I’ve been really busy on Minecraft these past couple weeks! Here are some highlights of the things I’ve built (you can see the whole “Adventures in Minecraft” album on Flickr):
Rainbow Bridge!
An observatory
Inside the Observatory. You can watch the sun and moon!
- A myseterious pond… Won’t you throw something in?
These creations are actually old new news, but I’ve been away from my blog for some time. I guess things have been busy on the “first world” side of the computer universe. I’ll be sure to take some screenshots of new happenings and update the Interblags about my travails when I can.

Heading down to Fredericksburg today to do more packing. Hopefully I’ll get home in time to do a little work for my blog & DS106.

A quick post… I’ve got a few goals for my summer at Camp that may take me slightly off the beaten path from the rest of the campers. I guess that’s one of the great things about being a DS106 graduate: I can set my own assignment schedule!
I want to focus on video and audio assignments, particularly the latter, because I’m quite weak in the audio department. My talents lie in the visual/design and the written world, and I think my blog reflects that; you don’t see much of those assignments.

Also, I plan to participate in Camp NaNoWriMo in June and August, and I would like to do more traditional artwork–painting, that is to say. I’ve discovered a real passion for painting this year, and my foray isn’t entirely separate from DS106. I really allowed myself to embrace the artist within me after the Summer of Oblivion. I felt myself come alive during that time like I had not felt in a while, and I finally accepted that creativity is an essential part of my life–not just writing, but all kinds of creativity.
Separate from DS106, I’d like to work in exercise and The Daily Create as part of my daily routine. I’ve successfully added 750words.com into my schedule, so it’s time to take the next step.

Camp Magic MacGuffin has begun! I’m very excited about it. Meeting the other DS106 participants is one the best parts about the class, seeing who takes to it immediately, seeing who evolves into the course, and just getting to know everyone!
I’ve got a couple projects that I want to get done by tomorrow night that are camp-related. So, looking forward to that.
Don’t forget to help us pack!

Who got trapped on the Internet today? This girl!
Things I’ve been reading/watching/wasting time with:
Also been spending time on DS106′s Minecraft server. It’s lonely in there, so head over and we’ll build epic shit together.

Faculty Academy is one of my favorite things about the summer. I love listening to the presentations, all the creative thought going on behind classes and projects. It stirs my brain and gets me excited about this thing called “learning.”
It’s like a music festival, only about education and technology! So, a really geeky Bonnaroo!

This FA, I’m having as much fun as ever, though I’m faced with a question unusual to most of the participants: “What am I going to do with all this knowledge?” I’m not not a professor, teacher, nor am I currently pursuing a Masters or Ph.D. I’m not an ed-tech, and I doubt anyone would hire someone as unqualified to be one as me. I don’t know where I belong in this community; perhaps for now I’m meant to be floating along, soaking up the knowledge and debates like a sponge, and one day I’ll know what to do with it. I’ve always felt a bit at sea as to my place. I guess for now, I can be a happy participant and bystander, chipping in when I have something to say.

To get ready for Camp Magic MacGuffin, I’ve given my blog’s appearance a bit of a face-lift!
I changed all my headers as well as the background image. I’m considering messing with the color scheme, and maybe even browsing for some new themes.

I added an Attribution page to the header menu so that the owners of the original images I manipulated for my headers can get the credit they are due. Thank you, everyone who chooses to license their work under Creative Commons. It makes the web a much more dynamic place.

I was feeling creative and messing around with Photoshop when I created this a couple days ago. I rather like it. The making was extraordinarily simple, just a matter of a couple layers, the bucket, and setting a filter or two.
